World Cultures Koontz Intermediate School sixth graders hosted a “Colorful Celebration of Culture” in March 2026, putting on a colorful display of world cultures and heritage. More than 1,000 students, families and staff turned out for an evening of exploration and community involvement. Following a survey and research project by students, the Buncombe County Board of Education voted to remove the school’s uniform requirement for the next school year.

Ans. Koontz Intermediate is specialized in upper elementary and intermediate grades and assists students in their gradual preparation for middle school expectations.
