A Billings West High School student who enlisted in the U.S. Army shared his story with Will James Middle School students ahead of Veterans Day. Jaydn Eggebrecht left for basic training on June 3. He spoke to the students about why he chose military service and what it means to him.
Q1. Is Broadwater School an "all-walking" school?
Ans.Yes, Broadwater is designated as an "all-walking" school, meaning students who attend generally live within a close radius and walk, bike, or scooter to school. Limited bus service is typically offered only for students with special needs.
Q2. Does the school offer Gifted and Talented programs?
Ans. Yes. Students can participate in the District QUEST (Gifted and Talented) program.
Q3. Does the school offer After School Care?
Ans. The school partners with the SACC (School Age Child Care) program, which is often available on-site for a fee, providing care after school hours.
Q4. How does a student get placed in the SACC After School Care program?
Ans. Parents must register for the SACC (School Age Child Care) program separately through the Billings Public Schools Community Education Department. SACC is typically available on-site at Broadwater for a fee, providing care until 5:30 PM or 6:00 PM. Placement is not automatic and is subject to availability.
Q5. What is the school's policy on volunteering?
Ans. The school welcomes volunteers but requires them to complete the necessary background check process through Billings Public Schools (BPS) before working with students or helping in classrooms. All visitors must check in at the main office.
