Being Updated
During the 2024–25 school year, Akin Elementary School participated in district-wide academic initiatives that included updated literacy materials, expanded reading intervention groups, and new digital learning tools for math practice. Teachers collaborated in professional development workshops focused on small-group instruction and student engagement strategies.
Q1. What kinds of books does Akin read?
Ans. Teachers use leveled readers, phonics materials, and comprehension routines that fit with the district's goals.
Q2. What do you do to learn new things?
Ans. Lessons start with modeling, guided practice, and small-group instruction that is based on what each student needs.
Q3. Do the arts help people learn?
Ans. Yes, music, visual arts, and themed classroom projects all help kids come up with new ideas.
Q4. What can parents do to help?
Ans. Families can come to curriculum nights, help with activities, or volunteer at events.
Q5. What are the rules for safety?
Ans. Students must follow rules for supervised arrival, controlled entry, and monitored hall transitions.
