Being Updated
Susan Lindgren Elementary School has been especially lively this season as its arts program continues to grow. The partnership with Hennepin Arts and the Disney Musicals in Schools initiative has expanded enough that far more students are now taking part in musical theater. This year’s production of “The Lion King” drew a strong crowd of families and neighbors, and the enthusiasm around the show carried through the building for weeks. Principal Clarence Pollock noted that the expanded program is giving students a real chance to work together, try something new, and feel connected to the school community. Younger students, in particular, seem eager to join theater or chorus as they look ahead to middle school. Staff see this growth in the arts as a natural extension of the school’s push to blend academic skills with creative opportunities, helping students gain confidence both in class and on stage.
