About Bishop Elementary School

Bishop Elementary School is one of the most progressive, community-minded Elementary Schools in Minnesota, for K–5 students in Rochester. Originally constructed in 1959, Bishop was completely rebuilt in 2022, almost doubling its size to over 100,000 square feet. The new space accommodates approximately 720 students and contains new classrooms, a larger gym, a sunny cafeteria, and larger playgrounds. The building was purposefully designed to create collaboration and flexible learning spaces that support small group learning. Bishop maintains the tradition of being a neighborhood school, celebrating diversity and inclusion while meeting the individual needs of students. In the combination of history and modernization, Bishop Elementary remains one of the most innovative forward-thinking Elementary Schools in Minnesota.
