Being Updated
Families from all over the Hopkins Public Schools district have noticed some big changes at Gatewood Elementary School as the new school year begins. Voters approved a major bond and capital-projects levy renewal earlier this month. The money will be used to make improvements to all the district's buildings, including Gatewood. The money will help make entrances safer, learning spaces more up-to-date, and areas more modern that will give teachers more freedom in how they plan their lessons. The money will help Gatewood stay in line with the district's long-term plan for buildings that are easy to get to and ready for the future, according to school leaders.
The school also talked about transportation delays that affected some families this fall. Families have been happy with the openness about the specific steps that administrators are taking to make bus routes better, improve communication, and get kids to school on time. After the recent election, there were also changes in leadership across the district. Gatewood starts the year with a sense of momentum and a renewed focus on making school a better place for all students.
