The Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan Independent School District 196, which includes Woodland Elementary School, has changed the schedule for the upcoming winter break to add an extra day for teachers to plan and take care of themselves. This is because there are still not enough staff and substitutes in the area. The change, which was announced in late December, is meant to give teachers a much-needed break as classrooms deal with more absences and heavy workloads. Woodland Elementary, which is in Eagan's suburbs, took part in the district-wide change. This shows how flexible the school is and how much it cares about helping its teachers. Families have said they are worried about losing class time, but the district said the decision was a strategic move to improve long-term teacher readiness and student learning. As part of a larger effort to keep strong classroom instruction, Wood Elementary is joining other local schools in making staff sustainability a top priority.
