In 2023–24, about 60% of Gateway STEM Academy students didn't pass the Minnesota state science tests. This is nearly 10% better than the year before. The school is still working to make STEM lessons better so that students do better in school and on tests in the future.
Q1. What is the goal of Gateway STEM Academy?
Ans. The goal of Gateway STEM Academy is to give students a hands-on, inquiry-based STEM education that will help them do well in college and in their future jobs.
Q2. Does Gateway STEM Academy have programs that kids can do after school or to strengthen their skills?
Ans. Yes, the school has after-school clubs, STEM workshops, robotics teams, and other activities that help students learn more outside of the classroom.
Q3: What help does Gateway STEM Academy give to students with special needs?
Ans. The school has individualized education plans (IEPs), specialized staff support, and adaptive learning strategies to help all students do well in school.
Q4: How can parents get involved at Gateway STEM Academy?
Ans. Parents can join the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO), help out at school events, and go to regular meetings and activities with their child's teacher.
Q5. How does Gateway STEM Academy use real-world STEM experiences to help students learn?
The school uses project-based learning, lab experiments, coding, engineering challenges, and field trips to make connections between what students learn in class and how they can use it in real life.
