Being Updated
The UCS Alternative Learning Center in Sterling Heights, Michigan, has been making progress with its Project SEARCH program. This national program helps students with intellectual and developmental disabilities learn job skills in the real world through internships. The program, which is a partnership with the City of Sterling Heights, has given students jobs in places like the Community Center, Parks and Recreation, and the Senior Center. This program has helped both the students and the community. Interns have been able to interact with residents and visitors, which has added a new level of connection.
Q1. Are there flexible learning options at the UCS Alternative Learning Center?
Ans. Yes, the school makes personalized schedules and programs to meet the needs of all of its students.
Q2. Is it possible for students to take the SAT or ACT at this school?
Ans. Students can take the SAT and ACT tests to help them get ready for college.
Q3. Are career and life skills taught at the school?
Ans. Students get ready for life after high school by taking practical classes in career planning, digital literacy, and life skills.
Q4. Does the school help kids grow socially and emotionally?
Ans. Counseling services and mentoring programs help students become stronger and more confident.
Q5. Do teachers want students to work on creative projects?
Ans. Art, music, and project-based learning opportunities give students a safe space to be creative.
