Top 10% School in Michigan
Ranked 45 of 305 in Michigan
Top schools in Rochester HillsLong Meadow Elementary sits near Brewster Road, surrounded by wide lawns, quiet sidewalks, and a calm rhythm that fits the city’s family-centered spirit. The school looks modern yet feels personal bright hallways filled with student art, friendly greetings at every turn, and a staff that somehow manages to make a large district feel small. It’s the kind of place where parents trust the teachers completely and kids come home proud of what they’ve learned that day. With around 500 students, the school keeps its student–teacher ratio close to 16:1, balancing individual care with active classrooms. Across Michigan, the average math proficiency rests around 35 percent, but Long Meadow consistently performs higher, usually between 60 and 65 percent depending on the year. Parents often compare it to Delta Kelly and North Hill Elementary, both nearby, yet say Long Meadow stands out for its energy and communication.
Teachers regularly share updates, celebrate small wins, and focus on steady, realistic growth rather than heavy testing. The neighborhood around the school mirrors that same character — tidy, green, and welcoming. Rochester Hills is known for its family focus, clean parks, and walkable areas. Homes near Long Meadow are in high demand; a three-bedroom rental typically ranges from $2,100 to $2,400 per month, while many families choose to settle permanently because of the school’s reputation. The area offers convenience without chaos, coffee shops, grocery stores, and playgrounds all within minutes. There aren’t any celebrity names tied to the school, but its alumni network runs deep in the community. Former students often stay local, many have gone on to Avondale High and then returned as professionals, coaches, or young parents enrolling their own children here. That cycle of return says more about the school than any test score ever could.

Being Updated
In October 2025, Long Meadow Elementary held its “Inventor’s Expo,” a week-long project where students designed small tools or devices to solve everyday problems. Some created recycled paper holders, others built model bridges or rainwater filters. The event ended with a showcase evening for families, filled with excitement and applause. Teachers said it reminded them why curiosity not grades is what truly drives learning.
