Brooklands Elementary sits off South Rochester Road, tucked between family neighborhoods and wide stretches of green. It’s the kind of school that feels familiar even if you’re walking through its doors for the first time. Morning drop-offs move at an easy rhythm, kids waving to teachers, parents chatting briefly before heading to work, and that unmistakable hum of a place that’s both organized and warm. With a student body of roughly 450 children, Brooklands keeps its student–teacher ratio close to 15:1, allowing teachers to notice the small things a confused look, a raised hand, a quiet smile after understanding something new. Across Michigan, the average math proficiency sits near 35 percent, while Brooklands typically scores between 52 and 58 percent, depending on the grade. Parents often compare it to nearby schools like Meadow Brook Elementary and Hampton Elementary, but say Brooklands stands out for its practical, no-pressure approach. Teachers focus on strong foundations reading confidence, problem-solving, and patience over constant testing. The surrounding neighborhood mirrors that tone. Rochester Hills offers tree-lined streets, family parks, and neighborhoods that have aged gracefully. Homes here range from modest ranch styles to newer builds, giving it a balanced community mix. A three-bedroom rental home nearby typically costs around $2,000 to $2,200 per month, with families often staying for years because of the stability both the area and the school provide.
Brooklands doesn’t advertise any celebrity alumni, but the success stories are local and lasting. Many graduates go on to Avondale High or Adams High and later return to the area as teachers, police officers, or small business owners. Some even have children now enrolled at the same school living proof that the Brooklands experience leaves a mark that lasts generations.

Being Updated

Students wrote thank-you letters to local firefighters, collected canned food for nearby shelters, and created a mural honoring everyday heroes in Rochester Hills.
