Cherokee Elementary School has an established profile as one of the high performing and steadily performing Elementary Schools in the State of Michigan. Cherokee serves over 500 students from grades PK-5. Currently, 41% of students are proficient in math and 43% of students are proficient in reading, allowing for Cherokee to perform in-line with state averages. Cherokee is also providing strong support for English Language Learners and African American students as they rank in the top 25% of schools in the state. Cherokee Elementary in Clinton Township, Michigan, put a post on Facebook on September 6, 2025. They wanted to thank the Macomb County Sheriff’s Department for giving them 755 backpacks. These backpacks will help students locally, including those in Chippewa Valley Schools.
