About Dicken Elementary School

Dicken Elementary School is one of the best Elementary Schools in Michigan, consistently ranked in the top 20% of all elementary schools in the state. Students outperform their peers in core subjects (55-59% proficiency in math and reading; science scores are in the top 10% in Michigan). Established in 1957 and named after its long-time principal, Carrie L. Dicken, the school features a beautiful connection to nature in “Dicken Woods,” a wildlife preserve of 10 acres dedicated to outdoor learning and community events. Families enjoy Dicken's strong culture of academics, community practices and traditions, and commitment to student achievement and growth. In the coming years, the structure will be supplanted with a new facility. Construction is set to begin in Spring 2025 with location-based classes continuing as construction occurs. Overall, Dicken Elementary School remains an exceptional option for students and families as an established building rooted in so many amazing community practices as well as high achievement and innovative practices.
