Mount Desert Elementary School sits in Northeast Harbor Maine. It teaches kids from pre-K to 8th grade. About 155 students go there. The school has a low student–teacher ratio of 8:1. It ranks among the top 1% of public schools in Maine. Between 95% and 98% of its students show proficiency in math and reading. This program gives students hands-on learning. It brings science and sustainability into daily lessons. The school staff uses Responsive Classroom methods. They also focus on SEL in their teaching. These approaches help students grow and. About 11% of students can get free lunch. MDES holds the #3 spot in Maine and the #1 spot in Hancock County. The school does well because of its strong academics, real-world learning, and teaching that fits each student.

We are so excited to announce the name of our new playground! Following a school-wide and Robinson community vote we narrowed a large list of names down to four. Since our students will be using the playground on a daily basis, we gave them the final vote! 476.....
