Recently, GEO Next Generation High School reached a big goal: they moved all of their juniors and seniors to the Baton Rouge Community College Acadian campus for a full college immersion experience. Thanks to this groundbreaking partnership, 30% of the most recent graduating class were able to get their associate degrees at the same time as their high school diplomas. Also, the school just got a big grant worth millions of dollars to help its students get even more unique early college and career certification paths.
Q1. What one-of-a-kind college immersion opportunity is there for students in school?
Ans. Juniors and seniors at GEO Next Generation High School go to class right on the Acadian campus of Baton Rouge Community College.
Q2. Is it possible for students to get degrees before they finish high school?
Ans. Recent data shows that 30% of graduates got an associate degree at the same time as their high school diploma.
Q3. Has the school gotten new money for programs for students?
Ans. A grant worth millions of dollars was recently given to help students get more early college and career certification options.
Q4. Does the school help students get ready for college entrance tests?
Ans. The curriculum is focused on college, so high school students get a lot of ACT prep to help them move smoothly to college.
Q5. What new tools for finding a job are being made?
Ans. The school is adding more industry-based certification tracks so that students can get professional credentials in fields where there is a lot of demand.
