For the 2025–2026 school year, Capitol High School will have a unified 6–12 grade model on its campus. This is a smart move that will make it easier for students to move from one grade to the next. Along with this realignment, there is a new focus-choice program that lets students earn college credits by working with Southern University and LSU. A major plan to improve the facilities is also in the works. This includes building a new football stadium and locker room to make the experience better for student-athletes.
