Tamarack Elementary School in Owensboro, Kentucky, made headlines in November 2025 for its touching Veterans Day assembly, where students honored local veterans, including women who served in the U.S. Armed Forces. The kids sang patriotic songs like "You're a Grand Old Flag" and gave out thank-you cards they had made. The event was part of a bigger effort in the community to build a Women Veterans Monument on the Owensboro riverfront, which is set to be dedicated in 2026.This event showed how Tamarack Elementary School teaches its students to be proud of their community, connect with others, and respect service and diversity.Owensboro High School, which serves many Tamarack graduates, reached a major milestone in recent rankings related to the district. According to the most recent U.S. News & World Report rankings, it was #6,409 in the country, #81 in Kentucky High Schools, and #3 in the Owensboro Metro Area. The award shows that the Owensboro Independent School District has worked hard to improve graduation rates, college readiness, and academic performance.
