Being Updated
The Daviess County Public Schools board recently took a big step toward replacing Highland Elementary School's old building. They approved the first BG-1 form, which starts the architectural design phase of the new building. This news comes at a time when Highland's students are doing well in school: 50% of them scored at or above the proficient level in math, and 53% did the same in reading. Highland did better than the district, where 41% of students tested at or above proficient in math and 42% in reading. In the same way, 37% of students in Kentucky met or exceeded proficiency in math and 42% in reading. This means that Highland is still better than these numbers. The push for a new building fits in with the school's academic progress and shows that they are committed to giving students a modern learning space that will help them keep doing well. Highland Elementary seems ready to grow because construction is already underway and test scores are going up.
