Being Updated
Bates Elementary was one of 54 community sites for the Jefferson County Public Schools' "Summer Success League" in June 2025. This free summer learning program was created to help kids who lose learning during the summer, a problem known as the "summer slide." Every day, Bates students had 60 minutes of reading, 60 minutes of math, 45 minutes of arts, and a variety of other activities that helped them learn more. High school students and JCPS teachers led the sessions. One high school mentor at Bates said that working with younger kids made her change how she talked and led. The program runs from the middle of June to the beginning of July, and since it started, it has helped more than 44,000 students in the district. This year's addition of Bates Elementary shows how the school is helping the district get students involved outside of the regular school year.
This program shows that Bates Elementary is dedicated to helping students grow outside of the regular school year and makes the school an active part of JCPS's district-wide plan for continuous learning.
