Being Updated
In recent news, Fayette County Public Schools recently honored Wellington Elementary School in Lexington, Kentucky, for its continuous academic progress and growing partnerships with the community. Teachers and parents have seen big improvements in reading and math scores over the past year. They say this is because the school focuses on each student's learning goals and hands-on projects in the classroom. The school also started a "Kindness and Leadership" program this fall to help students have a say in how their school culture is shaped. Kids are learning that how small actions can make a big difference through service projects, peer mentoring, and working together in unity and it gives more strength. Wellington's annual multicultural fair had one of its biggest crowds ever. Almost all the families shared foods with each other, they enjoyed dancing, music and traditions that show how diverse the school is. Staff members say that events like these make students, parents, and teachers feel more connected to each other. These actions show that Wellington Elementary is dedicated to helping every student grow in a welcoming environment, both academically and socially.
