Clays Mill Elementary School is a public school in Lexington, Kentucky that serves grades K–5. It is part of the Fayette County Public Schools district. The school has about 520 students and a student-to-teacher ratio of about 13 to 1. The school focuses on a child-centered learning environment by including hands-on activities, flexible grouping, and cooperative learning in all of its classes. Students can take classes in media, art, music, and health, as well as programs for gifted and talented students and students who are learning English. The most recent tests show that about 35% of students are good at math and 46% are good at reading and English language arts (ELA). The cost per student is about $24,466. Clays Mill is located on a 15-acre campus near Southland Park. It has a lot of parent involvement and an active PTA. Overall, the school has a strong academic program and a friendly, community-focused environment, which could help students do even better in the future.

As per recent news from the sources the Kentucky Department of Education recently gave the Clays Mill Elementary School the Gold Level award for how well it used Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) during the last years of school session. This award shows that the school has successfully set up a structured way to teach, reinforce, and celebrate good behavior in students, which creates a respectful and welcoming learning environment. This achievement shows that the staff, students, and families at Clays Mill Elementary are all dedicated to making the school a safe place where students can learn, grow socially and emotionally, and behave well. Gold status means that the school is not just focusing on test scores, but also on the whole child experience. Clays Mill Elementary School has a strong foundation that will help it keep moving forward and growing. It can use its positive culture as a springboard for more academic success and community involvement.
