Being Updated
Southern Elementary started a new event called "Family Night STEM Showcase" earlier this month. Students and their families are invited to explore interactive science and technology stations together in the school gym. The evening, which was planned with the help of local businesses and the parent-teacher team, included engineering challenges, demonstrations of the robotics club, and a gallery of student work in the creative arts. Teachers said that a lot of kids tried things they had never done before, like building simple circuits and coding mini-robots. Parents liked seeing how excited their kids were about these activities. The heads of the school said they want to make this an annual event as part of a larger effort to give students more chances to learn by doing. The program is in line with Southern Elementary's goal of getting more students involved and giving them new ways to feel more confident in math and science.
