See top schools in CovingtonSixth District Elementary School is a public school in Covington, Kentucky, that serves grades K–5. It is part of the Covington Independent School District. The school has about 470 to 480 students and a student-to-teacher ratio of about 16 to 1, which is a little higher than the state average. The school stresses a growth mindset and works on building basic skills in math, reading, and writing. It also has the "Dolphin Zone," an academic and enrichment program that lasts all day and is meant to help students outside of school hours. Older elementary school students can play sports and do other activities outside of school, like basketball, cheerleading, and soccer. There are a lot of different types of students at Sixth District Elementary, including Hispanic, Black, White, and multiracial students. Many of them can get free or reduced-price lunch. Recent performance data show that 23% of students are good at math and 37% are good at reading. This means that literacy is better than math. The cost per student is about $20,000, which is high because a lot of money is spent on student services. The school is in Covington's Austinburg neighborhood and is known for being welcoming and having strong support programs. There is also room for more academic growth.

Being Updated
People in the community and families are talking about a recent update from Sixth District Elementary School. Recently the school has started a new program that is called the Academic Growth Boost Program. This program mainly focused to help students do better in math and reading. This step shows that the district is once again focused on helping students do better and giving them the help they need.
The program includes small-group lessons, personalized learning plans, and extra tutoring after school. Teachers are also getting new training that helps them use student data better so they can make lessons more relevant to each child. Parents have been happy, especially since the school has kept the environment safe and welcoming and the student-to-teacher ratio at 16:1.
Students have already started taking part in new enrichment activities, and early feedback shows that more people are joining and feeling more confident. As the program grows, the school plans to send out regular updates on how things are going.
