L'Ouverture Career Explorations and Technology Magnet Elementary School highlighted ESOL teacher Heloisa Haist in the “My WPS Story” segment for her impactful work with students. The school also celebrated several staff members who were selected for the inaugural EmpowerED Teacher Leader Fellowship cohort.
Q1. In what ways does L’Ouverture facilitate career exploration for elementary students?
Ans. The school exposes pupils to practical occupations via thematic modules, technological projects, and activities that foster curiosity regarding future pathways.
Q2. What standards govern student conduct at L’Ouverture?
Ans. Students are taught to be respectful, responsible, and prepared, and staff members reinforce these values in labs, classrooms, and group work areas.
Q3. In what manner are families kept apprised at L’Ouverture?
Ans. Parents are informed through newsletters, magnet updates, and messages from teachers that convey events, reminders, and program highlights.
Q4. How can parents be a part of the magnet community?
Ans. Families can help out with technology nights, go to school events, and help with classroom projects that show what students have learned.
Q5. In what ways does L'Ouverture help students stay healthy?
Ans. The school teaches SEL skills that help with teamwork, problem-solving, and self-confidence. Counselors are also available to help when needed.
