Being Updated
In the fall of 2024, Vinton Elementary was the first school in Indiana to try out a four-day school week. The school was open from Monday to Thursday, and the days were longer. Teachers say they feel more energized after the long weekend, and school leaders are keeping a close eye on attendance, academic performance, and faculty well-being during the three-year trial period.
The change in schedule made it hard for families to keep up with their routines and find childcare, but a local YMCA stepped in to help by providing care on Fridays.
