The latest news of Hickory Center Elementary school, After the district's fall assessment review, Hickory Center Elementary School recently talked about there management for how well their students were doing with early literacy. After the school added new literacy intervention blocks and more small-group instruction, teachers said that reading fluency in grades 1 through 3 got better. Administrators said that families have been more involved lately through home reading logs and monthly literacy nights. These events have helped students improve their skills outside of school. This semester, the school also got new STEM learning kits, which give students more opportunities to do science and solve problems in real life. Teachers said that the new materials have made students more interested in school and helped with the inquiry-based science lessons that were already happening. All the family members are happy with the school's focus on academics and clear communication about how their children are doing in school.
