The latest news of Delaware Elementary School in Evansville told about the student , most of the student had brought an unloaded gun to school. District officials say that staff acted quickly after getting a tip and found the weapon in the student's backpack inside a locker. There were no threats, and the problem was quickly fixed without stopping school. The district followed its usual safety and disciplinary procedures, and the police were called. The student was taken out of the building.
The Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation said that the quick action of the staff showed how important it is for everyone in the school community to be alert and communicate well. Local leaders used the event to bring attention to bigger issues like how easy it is for kids to get guns and how important it is for families, schools, and police to keep working together. The district plans to look over its safety rules again, but leaders said that the ones that were in place worked as they should have during the event.
