Lakeview Elementary School is a public school in Bloomington, Indiana, that is part of the Monroe County Community School Corporation. It serves students in kindergarten through fifth grade. The school has about 450–500 students and a student–teacher ratio of about 14:1. This means that classrooms are not too big and students get help that is tailored to their needs. Lakeview follows the standard Indiana curriculum, but it also adds extra lessons in art, music, and technology to help students learn more. The student body is made up of a wide range of people, with about 30–35% of students identifying as minorities. According to U.S. News data, about half of students meet or exceed proficiency standards in English Language Arts. Math proficiency is a little lower than that, which is similar to state averages in some areas and lower in others. Local and state funding supports the district's estimated spending of $13,000 to $14,000 per student. People who live nearby say that the area is friendly and focused on students. In general, Lakeview Elementary is a good place to learn and grow academically.
