Being Updated
The Sangamon County Juvenile Detention Center reopened in January 2025 after being closed for 15 months following an incident in September 2023, with more than $362,000 in security upgrades including a $132,500 X-ray body scanner. The Dirksen Parkway facility provides education through the Springfield School District 186 for detained youth in grades 6-12. Credit recovery and individualized instruction are emphasized.
