In April 2026, Wood Oaks Jr High School enjoyed great success at the Illinois Junior Academy of Science State Fair in Carbondale. The school was represented by sixteen students who returned home with 15 gold awards and one silver award. In addition, six students were awarded EPIC (Exceptional Project in Category) awards for exceptional projects. The outcomes acknowledged high student achievement in scientific research and competition at the state level.
