With its distinctive curriculum centered on the arts and multicultural experiences, Johns Hill Magnet School in Decatur is still in operation. Two yearly theatrical productions—a fall play and a winter musical—and the school's support of a spring multicultural arts festival are recent improvements. In addition, the school hosts the EDSL program for kids in kindergarten through eighth grade and offers after-school activities like visual arts, choirs, and a rock band.
Q1. Does Johns Hill Magnet School before and after school program?
Ans. Yes, it has a free before and after school program.Families signed up for Extended Day have the flexibility to get students to school as early as 6:00 a.m. and pick up students as late as 5:30 p.m.
Q2. Are school buildings unlocked during the school day for safety and security purpose?
Ans. No, all schools are locked during the school day. Visitors must come to the main entrance and speak to a secretary or security staff prior to being allowed into the building. The secretary or security staff will ask for your name and ID, which will be entered into our Raptor visitor management system, prior to allowing entry into the building.
Q3. Does Johns Hill Magnet School offers bus services?
Ans. Yes, provide bus transportation services to their students.
Q4. Does Johns Hill Magnet School have remote learning program?
Ans. It has e-Learning days, which provide a flexible way for students to continue their education remotely during inclement weather or other disruptions.
Q5. Are there any preschool options?
Ans. Decatur Public Schools currently offers two options for our earliest learners:
1. Pershing Early Learning
2. PreK at Montessori Academy for Peace
