Acero Charter School - Rufino Tamayo Campus has recently drawn positive attention after the Chicago Board of Education approved plans for the campus to become a district-managed Chicago Public School starting in 2026. The school’s decision to remain open was intended to offer long-term stability for students and families while still allowing the school to remain open for the 2025-2026 school year. The campus also launched its revamped “Bilingual Brillante” program in partnership with the University of Illinois at Chicago to support bilingual literacy growth in English and Spanish.
