Being Updated
Tracey Magnet School has received a $1.8 million federal grant to add more after-school activities for 4th and 5th graders. The Carver's 21st Century Community Learning Center grant will give money to help with character education, academics, and STEM over the next three years.
Q1. What does "magnet" mean at Tracey School?
Ans. As a magnet school, Tracey gets students from all over Norwalk, not just the area around it. This makes for a diverse learning environment because students are chosen at random.
Q2. What is the PRINT character education model that Tracey uses?
Ans. TRACEY's most important values are: Respect, Integrity, Neighborliness, Perseverance, and Taking Responsibility. These are included in daily lessons, rules for the classroom, and school events to help kids grow as people.
Q3. What help do English Language Learners (ELLs) get at Tracey?
Ans. Tracey teaches ELL students at their own level of proficiency and provides bilingual support and different learning strategies to help them do well in school and in life.
Q4. Does the school have programs or care for kids before or after school?
Ans. Yes, Tracey offers enrichment programs for 4th and 5th graders after school, thanks to a recent grant from the 21st Century Learning Center. These programs include STEM, academic help, and character education.
Q5. What can parents do to help Tracey with her character mission?
Ans. Parents are encouraged to get involved in Tracey's PRINT values by taking part in family service projects, volunteering, celebrating character month, and being on the School Governance Council.
