The Thomaston Savings Bank Foundation recently gave Smalley Elementary a $3,000 grant to help pay for its "Express Yourself" after-school arts program. This money will help keep going workshops that combine the arts, like music, theater, dance, and visual arts, that help students improve their creativity and social-emotional skills.

The Connecticut State Department of Education's After-School Grant Program has also given the school $153,880 in state after-school grant money. This will give Smalley students more chances to learn and grow outside of school hours.
