New Britain Public Schools has started an after-school enrichment program at Gaffney Elementary. The program is funded by $5.3 million in state money that was given to the district in 2025 for programming.
Q1. What programs help people who are learning English (ELLs)?
Ans. Gaffney School has ESOL classes, bilingual materials, and one-on-one help for students who are learning English.
Q2. Do students have chances to learn by doing?
Ans. Yes, students do STEAM projects, science experiments, and fun activities in the classroom to keep them interested.
Q3. How does the school teach social-emotional learning (SEL)?
Ans. Character education, peer mentoring, and mindfulness activities in the classroom all help students become more aware of their feelings and develop empathy.
Q4. Are there any activities outside of school?
Ans. Students can join after-school clubs, arts programs, and other activities to help them be creative and learn new things.
Q5: How does Gaffney School get families involved?
Ans. Families get involved by going to PTO events, workshops, volunteering, and parent-teacher conferences. This helps build strong partnerships between home and school.
