In June 2025, Edgewood Middle School was named a Back-to-Back School of Excellence Champion because the WCUSD Speech and Debate Team won national awards. The award is based on the fact that the school has won School of Excellence awards in a row for how well its students did in a national speech and debate competition. The title shows that Edgewood Middle School was one of the best in the district that year for speech and debate.
