Mound Elementary is located at 455 South Hill Road in the eastern Ventura area. The school serves grades K-5 with a total enrollment of 580 students. The student–teacher ratio is 22:1. Mound Elementary is celebrating its history of high academic standards and community-driven education. The school recently changed the times of its bells to meet the district's needs for collaborative planning time. Principal Todd Tyner wants families to use the district's public data portal to stay up to date on the School Closures Advisory Committee.
Q1. How does the Mound Elementary sibling priority system work?
Ans. Siblings of current students receive priority placement only if the older sibling will still be attending Mound next year.
Q2. Can twins receive sibling priority for Kindergarten at Mound?
Ans. No, sibling priority is not given to twins entering Kindergarten because neither child is currently enrolled at the school.
Q3. What is the core educational philosophy at Mound Elementary?
Ans. The school believes every student has a right to learn in a positive atmosphere free from unnecessary distractions or interruptions.
Q4. Are there any fees for the after-school programs at Mound?
Ans. While some programs are free, the YMCA "Expanded Learning" option may require weekly fees depending on family eligibility and space.
Q5. How does Mound handle School of Choice applications for out-of-boundary families?
Ans. Out-of-boundary families must apply through the district-wide SOC lottery held annually between November and December for the next year.
