Montalvo Elementary keeps promoting its Dual Language Immersion program, which helps kids learn both English and Spanish. The school recently held a literacy night to give families tools to help their kids read at home. Principal Nitzia Inzunza-Jimenez is working with the VUSD Board of Education to make sure that the campus stays a place where people can be active in the community.
Q1. What kind of teaching does the Dual Language program at Montalvo use?
Ans. Montalvo uses a DLE program that has won awards and focuses on high levels of bilingualism and academic success in both Spanish and English.
Q2: How do I set up a private tour of the Montalvo campus?
Ans. Families who are interested should call the main office at 805-289-1872 to set up a visit and meet the staff.
Q3. What after-school activities are available at Montalvo right now?
Ans. The City of Ventura runs the free ASES program, and the Las Posas Children's Center runs the paid program.
Q4. Is Montalvo a "School of Choice" in the district?
Ans. Yes, Montalvo is a School of Choice that serves students from all over the district as well as its own neighborhood.
Q5. Is there an arts curriculum at Montalvo?
Ans. It is the only arts academy in the area and offers specialized classes on different art movements, masters, and creative genres.
