Juanamaria Elementary is working on its Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program to make the campus a safe and respectful place to be. The school just had its annual fall festivals and community events to help staff and families in the area get to know each other better. Principal Sandy Corona has asked parents to help the School Site Council make plans for the school's future safety and budget.
Q1. What does Juanamaria Elementary use the "Blue Slip" system for?
Ans. The Blue Slip system is a way to reward students who show great character and kindness.
Q2. How can parents get to the Juanamaria Elementary digital library?
Ans. Students can borrow e-books and other digital media from the Sora or Destiny platforms by logging in with their district credentials.
Q3. Is there a garden or outdoor classroom at Juanamaria Elementary?
Ans. There is a garden on campus that the community takes care of. Students learn about the environment and plant things there.
Q4. Do Juanamaria parents who are thinking about sending their kids to the school have an open house every year?
Ans. In the spring, the school holds an open house for current and future families to see student work and meet the teachers.
Q5. How does Juanamaria Elementary help students who need special education?
Ans. Based on the results of student evaluations, the school offers Individualized Education Program (IEP) services like speech therapy and help from a resource specialist.
