Johnston Cooper Elementary recently showed off its successful after-school programs, which have been praised for keeping students interested and supported. The school is getting ready for a bright future by making changes to its boundary maps. These maps will help the school use its space and resources more effectively. At recent community town halls, parents and staff strongly supported the school's "family-like" atmosphere.
Q1. Do students at Johnston Cooper Elementary have the option of taking strings or orchestra classes?
Ans. Students in the upper elementary grades can learn to play the violin or cello through the district-wide strings program.
Q2. What is the process for visitors to check in at Johnston Cooper Elementary?
Ans. To get a temporary campus access pass, all visitors must show a valid photo ID at the front desk.
Q3. Is there a computer lab at Johnston Cooper Elementary that is only for students?
Ans. The school has a modern computer lab where students learn about digital citizenship and how to type on a keyboard every week.
Q4. Are there any STEAM programs at Johnston Cooper Elementary?
Ans. Teachers include hands-on science and engineering projects in the main curriculum to get students to ask questions and come up with creative solutions.
Q5: What does Johnston Cooper Elementary do when students lose library books or textbooks?
Ans. Families have to pay for replacement costs if they don't return materials to the school media center by the due date.
