Being Updated
Sarah Ruiz, a fourth-grade teacher at Cave Language Academy, was named the 2026 VCUSD Teacher of the Year in January 2026. The school is dedicated to providing excellent instruction and a supportive learning environment, as shown by this prestigious award. The academy is also actively enrolling new students for the 2026-27 school year to grow its one-of-a-kind dual-immersion language programs.
Q1. Do siblings get to enroll first at Cave Language Academy?
Ans. During the annual district-wide open enrollment lottery, siblings of students who are already enrolled often get first choice.
Q2. What languages does the Cave Language Academy's dual-immersion track mostly teach?
Ans. The academy uses a dual-immersion model, which means that all core academic subjects are taught in both Spanish and English.
Q3. Do students who don't live nearby have to take the bus to Cave Language Academy?
Ans. There aren't many transportation options, so most families use carpools or district-approved bus routes to get to and from work each day.
Q4. Does Cave Language Academy have sports teams for middle schoolers?
Ans. During the school year, students in grades six through eight can play basketball and volleyball in intramural sports across the district.
Q5: How does Cave Language Academy deal with technology in the classroom?
Ans. Every student gets a Chromebook from the district to help them learn how to use technology and interact with others during school hours.
