Waukena Joint Union Elementary is still proud of the spirit of the people who live in the area. A lot of people came to its "Family Math Night" not too long ago. The new reading program at the school is helping kids do better on their reading tests this school year (2024–2025). Teachers can pay more attention to each student at Waukena because the classes are small. This has helped the students feel more sure of themselves and willing to speak up.
