Denise Medina, a student at Frank Kohn Elementary, was recently named a "Character Counts!" Kid of Character because she is grown-up and sets a good example for her classmates. The school keeps talking about its "Kohn Cobras" by showing off teachers and students who are very involved in school activities. The campus also held its annual "Kona Ice" and "Back to School Night" events to raise money for student funds.
Q1. Does Frank Kohn Elementary have a specific mascot or school colors for days when students show their school spirit?
Ans. The Cobra is the school's mascot, and during certain spirit weeks, students are encouraged to wear clothes that show their school spirit.
Q2. What kind of character education do students at Frank Kohn Elementary get?
Ans. The school uses the "Character Counts!" program, which teaches kids how to be honest, respectful, responsible, fair, caring, and good citizens.
Q3. Does Frank Kohn Elementary School have help for students who speak more than one language or who are learning English?
Ans. The campus has special ELD classes and an advisory committee to help students who don't speak English as their first language.
Q4. Does Frank Kohn Elementary have a kindergarten orientation every year for new families?
Ans. New families are invited to a spring orientation to find out about school rules, the curriculum, and how to sign up.
Q5. What kinds of technology do students at Frank Kohn Elementary have access to?
Ans. Students can use 1:1 devices and online learning platforms to improve their research and core curriculum skills.
