Spruce Elementary School recently celebrated being named a California Distinguished School for its great academic performance and programs that help students. The campus just finished a successful Read-A-Thon, and this semester, students read more than 40,000 minutes more than the goal for the whole district. The school is also looking forward to its annual Spring Concert, which will feature the talented school band and choir.
Q1. Is there a "Back to School" night at Spruce Elementary?
Ans. Families are welcome to meet teachers and find out what is expected of them in the classroom at this yearly event in early September.
Q2. What is the rule about cell phones at Spruce Elementary?
Ans. Every day, student devices must stay off and be kept in backpacks so that the learning environment is focused and free of distractions.
Q3. Is there a parent-teacher association at Spruce Elementary?
Ans. There is an active parent group at the school that meets once a month to plan fundraisers and help with different student enrichment activities.
Q4. How does Spruce Elementary find out when students are absent?
Ans. To excuse a child's absence, parents must either call the attendance line or send a signed note to the office.
Q5. Does Spruce Elementary give out a list of books to read over the summer?
Ans. To help students keep up their reading skills over the break, the school recommends certain books for each grade level.
