San Gabriel Avenue Elementary is celebrating its focus on biliteracy and cultural connection through its Spanish and Mandarin immersion programs. The school is currently doing its yearly Needs Assessment Survey to get input from the people of South Gate. Recent campus newsletters talk about new projects led by students in the STEAM lab and the garden center.
Q1. Does San Gabriel Avenue Elementary have any special programs for learning languages?
Ans. The school has classes that teach students both Spanish and Mandarin so that they can speak both languages fluently.
Q2. What does San Gabriel Avenue Elementary School do to keep its students safe when they arrive and leave?
Ans. Some staff members watch some gates and crosswalks to make sure that all students leave and come back to campus in a safe way.
Q3. Can you do music and art at San Gabriel Avenue Elementary?
Ans. Students can show off their musical and artistic skills all year long by taking part in different arts activities and performances that happen at different times of the year.
Q4.Is there an app for parents to talk to each other at San Gabriel Avenue Elementary?
Ans. ClassDojo and Schoology are used by the school to keep parents up to date on what's going on in the classroom and to make important announcements that affect the whole campus.
Q5. Can parents help out in the school garden at San Gabriel Avenue Elementary?
Ans. Volunteers who meet the requirements can help with outdoor learning projects and take care of the garden after going through the usual district clearance process.
