Mattie Washburn Elementary received accolades in late 2025 for its Foundational Literacy program, specifically benefiting Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten students.
Q1. What new program for 2025 will help kids learn to read and write early?
Ans. The "Wonders" reading program makes sure that every first grader can read at grade level by the end of the year by teaching them in small groups.
Q2. How will the social-emotional learning curriculum for 2025 be put into action?
Ans. Every day, teachers use puppets and stories to help young students learn how to control their emotions and care about others.
Q3. Are there any new outdoor classrooms for young kids?
Ans. A new "Discovery Garden" was made with plants that stimulate the senses and play areas where young children can explore.
Q4. What special events for families are planned for the 2025 term?
Ans. Families can enjoy milk and cookies while reading books together on "Pajamas and Reading" nights at the school.
Q5. In 2025, how does the school tell parents how their kids are doing?
Ans. Three times a year, there are parent-teacher conferences that focus on student portfolios and developmental milestones.
