Manzanita Elementary Charter awarded the 2025 Innovation in Education Prize for its student-led "myPath" digital learning challenge.
Q1. What is the science focus for project-based learning (PBL) in 2025?
Ans. The students' main science project is to build working R.O.V.s to study the creek ecosystem near their school.
Q2. How does the charter make the 2025 curriculum more environmentally friendly?
Ans. Every year, students do energy audits of the school and suggest ways to save energy to the school board.
Q3. Are there any new student leadership positions at the school for 2025?
Ans. Students can lead morning meetings and help with campus tours through the "Monarch Leaders" program.
Q4. What special performing arts programs do students have access to?
Ans. As part of the core curriculum, the school has weekly classes in dance, improvisation, and creative movement.
Q5. What changes to the school's dress code will there be in the 2025 charter environment?
Ans. The focus is on clothing that is professional, appropriate, and useful for project-based learning activities.
