Santa Monica Alternative (K-8), also known as Santa Monica Alternative School House (SMASH), shared updates highlighting new learning opportunities and transition programs for students. The school and the Santa Monica–Malibu Unified School District recently promoted programs to support 8th-grade students transitioning to high school.
Q1. How does Roosevelt Elementary School help students become better leaders?
Ans. Students can be leaders by taking on roles in the classroom, working on group projects, and helping with school programs.
Q2. What kinds of things do students like to do with their classmates?
Ans. Teachers make students work together on group projects and cooperative learning tasks so they can learn to talk to each other better.
Q3. What does the school do to help kids be creative in the classroom?
Students learn to think about things in new ways through creative assignments, art projects, and project-based learning.
Q4. How do students get to celebrate their achievements?
Ans. Students can be honored at school events, parties in the classroom, and assemblies.
Q5: How does the school make students want to learn and discover new things?
Ans. Teachers make lessons and activities that are fun and make students want to learn new things and ask questions.
