In January 2026, Kathryn Hughes Elementary students gave a well-received presentation that brought local history to life. The school has recently changed its Single Plan for Student Achievement to focus on helping all of its students grow and succeed. The campus is also taking part in the Safe Routes to Schools program to make students safer on their way to and from school.
Q1. Is there a garden or outdoor classroom at Kathryn Hughes Elementary School where kids can learn about nature and the environment?
Ans. Students learn about biology, how to be eco-friendly, and why it's important to grow their own healthy food in the school's community garden.
Q2: How do kids at Kathryn Hughes Elementary School get books from the library?
Ans. Students go to the library with their class every week to check out books and learn how to use the library for research and information literacy.
Q3. How does Kathryn Hughes Elementary School let parents and families know about important updates and emergency information every week?
Ans. The school uses a digital newsletter, automated phone alerts, and a mobile app that works with the school to make sure families get timely and accurate updates.
Q4. Are there any special programs for kids to go to before or after school at Kathryn Hughes Elementary School?
Ans. A few licensed childcare providers run programs on or near the campus so that students have a safe and supervised place to be before and after school.
