It is the only high school in its district, so it gives about 250 students a different way to learn. There is one teacher for every sixteen students, which is very helpful. People know the school for combining academic lessons with paid job training and projects that help the environment. There are a lot of different kinds of students at the school. 97% of them are minorities, and 74% of them come from low-income families. The San Jose Conservation Corps Charter helps students get professional certifications and high school diplomas by focusing on vocational development and getting a high school diploma. The San Jose Conservation Corps Charter has added to its Zero Waste program, which lets students get certified in environmental management by working on local conservation projects. The school recently started a paid internship program with local trade unions that gives students direct access to jobs in green construction and solar technology. Also, the campus has opened a new Career Resource Hub with high-speed technology to help students make professional portfolios and apply for technical programs after high school.
